Questions & Tips

Here you will find all the information and answers to your questions about our products.
How do urine test strips work? Plus
The test strips contain five square colored patches, one for each parameter. After the test strips are dipped into urine, the patches change color depending on the concentration of the respective substance present in the urine.
How reliable are urine test strips? Plus
The analytical sensitivity of the urine control test is > 90%, which means the test strips reliably detect substances in urine. Since this product is a self-test, the correct interpretation of the test results depends on the individual case. If unsure, consult a doctor or a specialist.
How long should the test strip be immersed in the urine? Plus
The test strip should only be immersed in the urine briefly, for about 1 second, so that all test areas are moistened with urine.
How long does it take to read the test result? Plus
The result can be read after 60 seconds (white blood cells only after 120 seconds).
What does the glucose (sugar) parameter on a urine test strip indicate? Plus
The kidneys normally excrete small amounts of glucose. The presence of glucose in the urine is often an indication of diabetes mellitus ("diabetes"). Pregnancy or a congenital defect of the urinary system can also be responsible for glucose in the urine.
What does the blood parameter on a urine test strip indicate? Plus
Blood can be detected in the urine of women during their menstrual cycle. The concentration of blood in the urine of healthy individuals is very low. The main causes of elevated blood concentrations in the urine are diseases of the kidneys and urinary tract. However, strenuous physical exertion, burns, or infectious diseases (e.g., cystitis) can also be the cause.
What does the protein parameter on a urine test strip indicate? Plus
Urine samples usually contain small amounts of protein. The presence of persistently high amounts of protein can indicate kidney or urinary tract disease.
What does the nitrite parameter on a urine test strip indicate? Plus
Normally, nitrite is undetectable in urine. The most common pathogens that cause urinary tract infections, such as Escherichia coli and most other urinary pathogens, convert the nitrate ingested with food into nitrite. Urine testing is useful for early detection and recurrence prevention of urinary tract infections.
What does the leukocyte (white blood cell) parameter on a urine test strip indicate? Plus
Normally, no leukocytes are detectable in the urine. Leukocytes are excreted in increased amounts in cases of inflammation and infection of the kidneys and urinary tract.
