Questions & Tips

Here you will find all the information and answers to your questions about our products.
How do urine test strips work? Plus
There are 5 square color fields on the test strip, one for each parameter. After dipping the test strips into urine, the color fields change color, depending on the concentration of the respective substance present in the urine.
How reliable are urine test strips? Plus
The analytical sensitivity of the urine control test is > 90%, which means that the test strips reliably measure substances in the urine. Since this product is a self-test, the correct interpretation of the test results depends on the individual case. If you are unsure, you should consult a doctor.
How long must the test strip be dipped into the urine? Plus
The test strip should only be dipped into the urine briefly, for approx. 1 second, so that all test fields are moistened with urine.
How long does it take until the test result can be read? Plus
The result can be read after 60 seconds (leukocytes only after 120 seconds).
What does the glucose (sugar) parameter on the urine test strip indicate? Plus
The kidneys normally excrete small amounts of glucose. The presence of glucose in the urine is often an indication of diabetes mellitus. Pregnancy or a congenital malfunction of the urinary system can also be responsible for glucose in the urine.
What does the blood parameter on the urine test strip indicate? Plus
Blood can be detected in the urine of women during their menstruation. The concentration of blood in the urine of healthy individuals is very low. The main cause of an increased concentration of blood in the urine is diseases of the kidneys and urinary tract. However, intense physical exertion, burns, or infectious diseases (e.g., cystitis) can also be the cause.
What does the protein parameter on the urine test strip indicate? Plus
Urine samples usually contain small amounts of protein. The presence of consistently high amounts of protein can be an indication of diseases of the kidneys or urinary tract.
What does the nitrite parameter on the urine test strip indicate? Plus
Normally, no nitrite can be detected in the urine. The most common pathogens for urinary tract infections such as Escherichia coli and most other urinary pathogens convert the nitrate ingested with food into nitrite. Detection in the urine is suitable for the early detection and prevention of recurrent urinary tract infections.
What does the leukocyte (white blood cell) parameter on the urine test strip indicate? Plus
Under normal circumstances, no leukocytes can be detected in the urine. Leukocytes are increasingly excreted during inflammation and infections of the kidneys and the urinary tract.
